This book seeks to analyse the place of Mary, mother of Jesus, in the devotional practices and doctrines of the various Churches. Making a critical analysis of the historical overview of the place of Mary in the Roman Catholic Church, it explores her place in some of the prominent non-Catholic Churches.
Critically assessing some of the conclusions reached in the ecumenical discussions and documents on Mary, it tries to study the Marian dogmas in the light of Mariological research and see the possibilities of presenting them acceptable to all the Christian Churches. It also deals with some of the basic concerns of non-Catholics, namely the five solas, the issue of the binding character of the dogmas and the issue of the infallibility of the Pope.
