The book deals with existing and potential medicinal plant resources in the environment of the Satpura region in Central India. It describes the plant ecology and useful species from the aspect of phytogeography and ethnobotany. The present study is based on the original research of the author. The study of medicinal plants is undertaken in two ways. Firstly, the availability of such plants under the environmental impact on distributional pattern in the Betul Plateau is studied through field surveys. Secondly medicinal uses of indigenous plants are investigated through ethnobotanical surveys. The area is a home of primitive tribals who are the repository of accumulated experiences and knowledge of indigenous medicine so the plants and plant products and the disease in which they are used as a cure have been recorded. By the phytogeographic and ethnobotanical point of view, the present volume is significant to biogeographers, foresters, ethnobotanists, research scholars and community as it provides information about medicinal plant resources and their use for human health care.
