The knowledge about the use of plants in skin care lies scattered in various treatises of Ayurveda, Siddha, Tibetan and Unani system of medicine and in the recent research publications in the current scientific literature. A need was felt to compile some of this information relating to skin care at one place for ready use in the R&D and by common people. An attempt of this kind has been made here and this book contains brief descriptions about skin, hair, nail and teeth, and their diseases, plants that have been used traditionally for their care and formulations that have proved effective in the treatment of skin diseases, beauty enhancement and retardation of ageing. It is hoped that the information being made available here will help common people to make skin remedies themselves from readily available plant materials and industrialists to produce skin care goods and incite some research towards improvement of skin care recipes.
