Micro and Small Enterprises in North East India: Problems and Prospects

The Micro and Small Enterprises constitute over 90% of total enterprises in most of the economies and are credited with generating the highest rates of employment growth and account for a major share of industrial production and exports. The development of enterprises in the North East states seriously handicapped due to some inherent problems. In spite of immense scope for the development of many resource and demand based MSEs; the region is still lagging behind the others parts of the country. This book is a comprehensive study in the growth problems of enterprises of states of NER. The study has highlighted the problems and prospects of micro and small enterprises in Assam Hills which reflects the overall picture of the entire North-Eastern region of the country. This book was based on the original work entitled ‘problems and prospects’ of small-scale industries of Assam Hills. The study of Assam and North-Eastern States has been incorporated in this book volume.
