Biotechnology concerns the practical application of organisms or their components. Historically biotechnology was an art involved in the production of vines, beers and cheeses. Now a days it involve a series of advanced technologies spanning biology, chemistry and process engineering. Dr. Rajni Gupta is teaching in the Department of Botany, Daulat Ram College, University of Delhi, Delhi. She got her M.Sc. and Ph.D. Degree in Botany from Agra University. She did Post Doctoral work in the Department of Botany, University of Delhi with Prof. K.G. Mukerji a distinguished Mycologist and Microbial ecologist. She has worked in the field of VAM fungi in biocontrol or weeds. She has published more than 40 Research papers in different National and Internatioal Journals. She has edited "Advances in Microbial Biotechnology" and authored "Microbial Technology".
