The book presents selections from Dr. Motilal Jarwani’s somewhat vast body of literary writings – short stories, poems and essays. These are some of his representative texts. Of the three parts, the book publishes in its first part some of his award-winning short stories and an extract from his award-winning short novel. His fiction is widely discussed, anthologized, translated into several national and international languages. Its second part collects some of his poems, as in the alien there is None, which very often than not juxtapose, ironically, the visible and the transcendental. Dr. Jotwani advocates universal love, or Agape, instead of the more self-centred Eros-Agape, which would help us see beauty underlying human folly. The third part presents some of his essays, which are rich and varied, under the canopy of Indianness. Motilal Jotwani: some Representative Texts abounds in themes and concerns which are, as it were, a ‘condensed India’.
