The Nature’s Pharmacopoeia is basically a documentation of medicinal plants and their usage from Doon valley. However, efforts have been made to make the publication useful for the common people, who intend to identify the valuable medicinal plants within such a small geographical limit. About 280 species of common medicinal plants have been documented in this book from the valley. The plant species include indigenous as well as few important exotic medicinal plants, often grown as an avenue tree or in the garden and parks of the valley. Description of each plant starts with the botanical name and its popular synonyms wherever found, followed by the family name in bracket. Vernacular, Hindi, Sanskrit and English names with flowering and fruiting time is also given. While describing the plant species, only distinguishing plant features are given along with a photograph or illustration, specific distribution and their uses in the traditional and Ayurvedic system of medicine. In addition, a glossary of botanical and medical terms is also incorporated in order to help the reader in identification of plant and understand their therapeutic uses. We hope that this publication would be helpful for common people particularly in identification of valuable medicinal plant diversity of the Doon Valley.
