Dialectical texts known as Vadagranthas are novel contribution of the new logicians. They are written in the style of argument on a particular debatable concept in the highly developed Navya Nyaya technical language. All those texts, containing complicated philosophical issues form the core of logical system developed by Gadadhara Bhattacharya, successors of Gangesa. In the present book eight vada-granthas edited for the first time and published will facilitate the study of Navya Nyaya logic. It has brought to light the sublime contribution of Raghudeva Bhattacharya, hitherto unknown Naiyayika. It will also open door for further research regarding Raghudeva’s remaining unpublished works.

Dr. Sweta Prajapati, the editgor of the present work is workwing as a Research Officer in the Oriental Institute, M.S. University, Baroda. Her Ph.D. thesis ‘Influence of Nyaya Philosophy on Sanskrit Poetics’ published in 1998, has brought approbation from the scholars. Various Gold Medals and prizes are awarded to her for her outstanding career. She has so far contributed 25 research papers written in English, Hindi and Gujarati to various academic journals. Though Alankarasastra is her specialized field, yet, the other fields like Nyayasastra, Manuscriptology and Modern Sanskrit Literature have captured her irrepressible interest. At present, she is engaged in the preparation of ‘ Alphabetical List of Manuscripts in the Oriental Institute, Vadodara, Vol. IV’, (jointly) ‘Annotated Bibliography of Manuscriptology and Textual Criticism’, the Critical Edition of the Nyayasutravrtti ‘Ratnamala’, a rara and unpublished Commentary on the Nyayasutras.
