The Human Resource Development is certainly a very fascinating subject in the area of Management. The success of an organization is determined as much by the skill and motivation of its personnel as by almost any other factor. This has always been true, the pace and volume of modern change is focusing attention on say Human Resource Development activities cab be used to ensure organization members have what it takes to successfully meet their challenges. The HRD is recognized as an important tool for corporate strategy, integrating the conceptual values with human values. Strategic thinking by the organization is essential to their development and survival. HRD must become an integral part of the business strategy. HRD systems and objectives which concern the organization are: specific mission and objectives, progressive mission and incentive packages, reward for punctuality in attendance, healthy interaction with trade unions, etc. The total emphasis is laid on the concept of trust as a major lubricant to the total dynamic of man and machine, worker and manager. Training and education, Mack Truck,s Winnsboro, SC has rightly said that “Our strength is our people… our workforce. We need to have our organization well rooted in getting people involved in the day-to-day operation of the business. One of the most exciting parts for me is to see supervisors and managers let go and employees take responsibility…or to see the group dynamics when things take off and go by themselves and everybody wonders why we didn’t do this long ago. It’s that excitement you see-the spirit, the camaraderie…when it happens, you say… they got it. It worked. You get beyond all the barriers and the issue becomes what’s best for the organization.†The magnitude of Human Resource Development is now being increasingly realized in all the sectors in general and in particular in public and corporate sectors in the light of new economic policy. The realization has come about because of increasing complexity of the task of role of HRD managers and administrators in the organizations and changes are also seen in the mindset of employees who joined the organizations recently. Very small number of titles is available relating to the HRD practices in an organization and little number of case studies is also seen on existing HRD practices in public and corporate sector. To meet this gap, author has put his effort to write this book titled “New Dimensions of Human Resource Development†This book consists with the overall theoretical framework of HRD in general, contemporary issues on HRD area in particular. It has also put an attempt to highlight the current issues and components and various areas of HRD with a particular emphasis in a new perception. The title of the book has been divided into seven main sections. This book is mainly prepared for the University level student’s community studying in MBA, PGDBM, PGDGRM, MSW and BBA courses. In addition to that this title will also be very useful for full time participants of long-duration management development programmes conducted by various Management Institutions in the World.
