Textile is an important item of our life, from essential to style. As style grew beyond essentiality people now ready to pay more knowing well that they are paying much higher than actual material value. As population grows therefore demand for textile increases at galloping rate. The textile is now being produced from various materials like cotton, silk, wool, sythetics and rayon thus textile from these items may be considered as conventional textiles. As demand for textile on increase with growth of population, it is anticipated that there shall be shortage of these items. In other words, we are heading for an era of textile crises. Therefore there is need for searching other items which may give us textile. This book deals with non-conventional textiles as a solution to avert future textile crises. In various chapter it has dealt with ramie, jute, various hibiscus plants, linseed, camel hair, rabbit hair etc., the method of extraction, spinnable properties etc., so that the book shall come handy to planers, textile engineers, scholars and so on so as to enable them to work further for out better tomorrow.
ABOUT THE AUTHOR G K Ghosh
He is graduated in Chemical Engineering from Regional Engineering College, Rourkella. After graduation served number of organizations like Hindustan Lever Ltd., I.B.P Co. Ltd., Konark Detergents and Soaps Ltd., and finally joined Khadi & Village Industries Commission as director in the year 1982 retiring as Joint Chief Executive Officer in the year 2008. after retirement he was made member and chairman respectively of two important committees of Ministry of Science & Technology. He is also working with two rural based groups to develop environment friendly rural industrialization. He has presented more than 40 papers in Anthropology in various sessions of Indian Science Congress. More than 80 articles in various subjects written in English, Hindi, Bengali and Oriya were published in various journals and news papers of repute. He had authored more than 50 books out of which 48 were published. The subjects ranged from disaster Management, Anthropology, Environmental Issues, Renewable Energy, Ayurveda etc. he is well traveled all Indian States and most of the European countries. He was trained in Industtrial Cluster from International labor Organisation Training center at Turin, Italy.
