The present book attempts to identify understand and analyse the key issues inherent to the Northeastern insurgency and tries to come up with some possible approaches to solve them. It will go a long way in ensuring a peaceful developed and unified North-East which has a history of long running and violent autonomy movements on behalf of a number of ethnic groups. This book explores that the trajectory of these local regimes determines much of the evolving security situation in the region analysing the impacts of the centers policy in the North-East. It is also provides background on North-East India and discusses the current security situation there. This discussion concentrates primarily on a number of regional minority autonomy movements relevant to Northeastern India including the potential long term political impacts of the centers strategy of supporting local autocratic strongmen to maintain ethnic peace.
