ABOUT THE AUTHOR Mani Shankar

Mani Shankar obtained his Master's degree in Political Science from the University of Delhi and a doctorate in the same from University of Madras. He worked for two well known newspapers published from Bangalore and Chennai, first as reporter and subsequently as correspondent. He also spent two years at the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI) on a scholarship and his resulting paper on "The Filtering Effects of Peace Initiatives on Regional Political Groupings." Presently he works as a senior correspondent for South Asian Affairs for two leading Asian and European news agencies.
