ABOUT THE AUTHOR Bhaktapada Sinha Roy

Dr. Bhaktapada Sinha Roy (b. 1943) had a brilliant academic career, having stood first in the M.A. (Economics) in 1964 from Visva-Bharati University. He was awarded Ph.D. Degree in 1988 from the same university. He started his career as a Lecturer in Economics at Bolpur College, West Bengal in 1966. Later he became Reader and Head of the Department of Economics of the same college. Dr. Sinha Roy is the author of Regional Rural Banks in West Bengal and Rural Banking and Poverty Alleviation. Dr. Sinha Roy is the author of an honours level text Book in Bengali on Economic Development and planning and writer of a number of research papers. Dr. Sinha Roy is a Life member of West Bengal college and University teachers association and Life member of Bengal Economic, Association. He is member of the Editorial Board of Arthik Prasanga a quarterly journal of Economics published from Kolkata.
