Pentagon’s South Asia Defence and Strategic Year Book 2015

The book examines the strategic importance of the region of South Asia and delves into the new transnational dimensions of security in the region as a result of developments like simultaneous rise of several powers. Covering issues relating to spread of weapons of mass destruction, fighting terrorism, energy security and stability, slowing climate change, maritime security and cyber security, it takes up questions relating to nature of governance in South Asia which is weak, there being rebellion and internal violence. The Yearbook covers studies of the countries of the region, their military arsenals and highlights the theme of terrorism. With data obtained from various sources and with references to international reports and projects and other literature on the subject, it focuses on Indo-China relations, the region of Jammu and Kashmir as ac conflict zone, the opening of Western Tibet, China’s war-fighting potential and sub-continental nuclear politics among other themes.
