Considering appropriateness of eco-friendly tactics in pest control in grains in storage, a national convention was held for the first time at The Department of Entomology, Faculty of Agriculture, Annamalai University, Annamalainagar, Tamil Nadu during March 26-27, 2007. The meet was well attended by elite entomologists, fumigation experts and grain storage organizations. The papers presented there in received good amount of discussion and 31 of them were chosen for bringing out as a publication. Various chapters brought under the purview of this book include: Grain storage and loss, storage structures and organizations, pest and disease problems, use of plant products, host plant resistance and other eco-friendly components, management of non-pests like rodents and quarantine aspects of grain importation. Good number of papers throws more light on utility of products of various kinds of plant species and certain eco-friendly tactics too is under focus. Restricted involvement of chemical insecticides in grain protection is also projected. The over all contents of the book would emphasize eco-friendly pest control tactics in grain storage. Best storage practices have also been projected. The contents of the book would auger well for promoting eco-friendly techniques of grains in storage.
