The Philosophy of Science is a very emerging branch of Philosophy which deals with the study of growth of scientific theories. Of late it has become very hot topic of research in universities of United States and Europe. Scores of Brains of acclaimed scientists are now engaged in the task of developing rationale explanations to the growth and development of scientific theories. Although this is an important area of research, but its origin can be traced back to Plato and Aristotle. During 20th century, Philosophy of Science progressed with arrival of Logical Positivists. However they were seriously challenged by Thomas S. Kuhn (1922-96) professor of Physics, Harvard University, U.S.A. Prof. Kuhn added a new leaf in the Philosophy of Science by propounding the concept of Paradigm Shift. The pioneering contribution of Prof. Kuhn to the Philosophy of Science has further been evaluated critically by many other contemporary Philosophers. Recently in India also, the study of Philosophy of Science has been receiving increasing importance specially at I.I.Ts and some other universities. This book is basically an effort of considerable period of research work by the author on Philosophy of Science.
