In this book, an attempt has been made to examine relationship between population and socio-economic development with special reference to India and South Korea.Human resources play an immense role to determine the level of development in all economies of the world. Low level of human resource development can be attributed to several factors like high growth rate of population, poverty, inequality, illiteracy, mortality and morbidity, low level of income, low level of consumption, low savings and investment, high burden of debt, etc. These factors mostly prevail in developing countries and they are responsible for slow growth of their socio-economic development. In developed countries inverse relation-ship is almost observed between population and socio-economic development. In this book, an attempt has been made to examine relationship between population and socio-economic development with special reference to India and South Korea. Further, it has been sought to analyze factors responsible for population growth and level of socio-economic development. This analytical overview brings to light the backward and forward linkages as observed in the demographic and economic dynamics of these countries in their multi-disciplinary perspectives. Measures and yardsticks for an optimum population strategy and a balanced model for socio-economic development of these countries have also been suggested in the course of analysis.
