The book `Poultry and Ratite Nutrition’ has been organized in 13 chapter, namely introduction, feeds of poultry, mutrients, functions of nutrients, feed additives, anti-nutritional factors in poultry feed ingredients, harmful and toxic fungi in foods, physical quality assessment of feeds, the digestive system along with digestion, absorption and metabolism, poultry feed processing technology, feed formulation for poultry, the ratites and, eggs and meat for food. The main objectives of poultry and ratites farming are the production of nutritious foods of high biological values like eggs and meat. The increasing demand of meat and limitations of feed availability for poultry rearing of foraging, ratite birds in increasing. Emu farming is growing at a fast rate in different parts of the country but exposure of nutrition of ratites is limited due to which many owners are totally dependent of the formula feeds. Due to increasing popularity the ratites will be also included in the syllabus of poultry science. The chapter on physical quality assessment of poultry feed ingredients is useful for feed procurement in bulk from remote areas during the season of crop harvesting. A few chapters like the ratites or flightlen birds and eggs and meat for food are special features the make it different from the other publications. The production of poultry will increase with the continuous increasing demand of complete protein food like egg and meat. Farming of large size foraging ratites has great scope of growth because these birds are capable of extracting considerable amount of their nutritional requirements from forages.
