Poverty is the main characteristic feature of South Asian countries, including India, which is and has been hindering the prosperity of this region. This book is an endeavour to understand the weaknesses and deficiencies of the poverty alleviation programmes of the Governments and hence there upon to identify the remedial measures and suggestions for enhancing the impact of poverty alleviation programmes. The book also aims to sensitise researchers students and policy makers working in variety of disciplines to the complexities of the issues relating to the subject of poverty.
ABOUT THE AUTHOR Divya Nigam
Born in 1978 at Ujjain (City of world fame Mahakaleshwar Temple), in Madhya Pradesh, Prof. divya Nigam did her M.A. (Political Science) in the year 2001 and in 2006 she took her Ph.D. At an active researcher she is particularly interested in such areas as Poverty, Women Empowerment and Entrepreneurship. She is presently working with St. Aloysius' College, Jabalpur; the college, which has joined the rank of reputed centers of excellence in higher education at national and international level and has attracted the attention of eminent academic fraternity in India and abroad. Guided by the Motto: "VIRTUS IN ARDUO" meaning 'Strength Through Hardship', St. Aloysius' College has been accredited with A+level by National Assessment Accreditation Council (NAAC), of the University Grants Commission (UGC).
