The words of the disciples of Sri Ramakrishna provide an invaluable source of spiritual guidance, for each disciple had experienced God and knew whereof he spoke. There is power in their words. Hence, the present volume is intended not to be a book to be read through in one sitting. It is meant rather as a guide to be picked up often and read, a maxim or two at a time, as the occasion demands. Its message is concentrated and potent. The word of God should be head, and then meditated upon. Only when watered by contemplation will the seed of the spirit be encouraged to grow.
