The Present work ‘Preksha Meditation and Drug Abusers personality’ was written six years ago as a Doctorate thesis of the Jain Vishva Barati Institute (Deemed University), Ladnun, Rajasthan. The work deals with the probable etiology of drug abuse and its effect on human health, personality and society. it also discusses about the strategies (Yogic meditation and contemplation) for amelioration and treatment of drug abusers. The book is documented with an exhaustive preface, seventh chapters and tow appendixes. The chapter ‘Yogic Personality’ and two appendixes (i.e, (i) Major Psychoactive (mind altering) drugs and (ii) Practice of Preksha Meditation for the treatment of drug abusers) have been added to the original thesis.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR C. Betal

Dr. Chintaharan etal was born in a noble family of village Untisole; in the district ofBankura of West Bengal. He obtained his M.A. degree with Hnours in Geography under the University of Burdwan (W.B.) and Post Graduate Diploma in Ecology and Environment from Indian Institute of Ecology and Environment, New Delhi. He got his M.A. (1996) of "Science of Living, Preksha Meditation and Yoga" from Jain Vishva Bharati Institute (Deemed University) Ladnun, Rajasthan. He also received the certificate in Transcendental Medittation (T.M.) and Alternative Medicine (Acupressure). Dr. Betal has attended various national and international conference and symposium. He has seventh research papers and is sincerely working in the field of applied yoga and meditation. Besides yoga, he has intensively studied the Hindu Astrological Literature by virtue of his personal interest. Currently, Dr. Betal is working as Regular Guest Lecturer to teach the students of M.A. in Human consciuosness and Yogic Science in the Department of Physical Education and Yoga Centre; Rani Durgawati University, Jabalpur (M.P.).
