Among the various modes of worship of God, Madhura Bhava Bhakti i.e., worship through amorous sentiment – treating God as one’s lover or real husband – is considered to be the highest kind of worship. This compilation is focused on the unique tradition of Madhura Bhava Bhakti in India. Lord Sri Krishna was the Avatar of love. Sri Radha, Sri Krishna’s Hladini Shakti (Bliss enrupturing power), worshipped him as her divine lover in the supreme Madhura Bhava Bhakti. This unique tradition has since then been carried forward by Andala, Mirabai, Chaitanya Mahaprabhu and now by Vasantha Sai who is Sri Radha’s present reincarnation and worships her Sai Krishna – Sri Sathya Sai Baba of Puttaparthi – as her divine lower and spiritual master.
ABOUT THE AUTHOR Satya Pal Ruhela
Professor S.P. Ruhela (born 1935) holds the qualification of M.A., Ph.D. and D.Litt. in Sociology, M.Ed. and Certificate in Commonwealth Education (UK). He has been teaching Sociology at the Raj Rishi College, Alwar (1961-66), Lecturer in Sociology of Education in the Department of Foundations of Education, N.C.E.R.T., New Delhi (1966-69), Reader in Education (Sociology) and then Professor of Education 1983-2000 at the Jamia University, New Delhi till 2000. He was also the Head of the School of Education and Dean of the Faculty of Education at the Himachal Pradesh University (1977-79). Millia Islamia, New Delhi. He has contributed over 45 books and 120 research papers and articles in Sociology, Social anthropology, sociology of Education, Child Education, Sociology of Religious and Spiritual Movement, Educational Technology and Futurology of Education. His contributions have been published in India and also in Germany, Spain, USA and Japan. He has guided 22 Ph.D. research studies in Sociology of Education.
