The present book entitled “Production and Processing of Litchi, Longan and Rambutan” is an accessible and up to date informative book, covering all essential aspects of important commercial crops of Sapindaceae family, i.e. Litchi, Longan and Rambutan. The important management practices and utilization at pre- and postharvest levels have been discussed in detail, keeping in mind, the need for commercial exploitation of these crops. The current trends and requirements have also been brought within purview in addition to critical perspectives that foster a better understanding of its R&D issues. We hope that this book will be of greater use for the farmers, horticultural entrepreneurs, retailers, wholesalers, exporters, students, teachers and researchers.
ABOUT THE AUTHOR Rajesh Kumar
Dr. Rajesh Kumar graduated from University of Delhi in B.Sc (Honours) in Mathematical Statistics in 1980 and M.Sc. in Mathematical Statistics in 1982. He did Professional Statistician's Certificate Course (P.S.C.C.) in agricultural statistics equivalent to M.Sc. (Agricultural Statisitics) in 1983 from Indian Agricultural Statistics Research Institute, New Delhi. He was awarded Gold Medal in Professional Statistician's Certificate Course (P.S.C.C.) in Agricultural Statistics for securing highest marks and V.V.R. Mauthy Memorial Prize. He earned Ph.D. degree in Statistics for his work in the field of Survey Sampling in 1995 from Uniersity of Lucknow. Dr. Rajesh Kumar qualified Agricultural Research Services Examination in 1985 and joined Indian Institute of Sugarcane Research, Lucknow as Scientist (Agricultural Statistics). Presently, he working as Principal Scientist (Agricultural Statistics) at Indian Institute of Sugarcane Research, Lucknow, U.P., India. He was elected Fellow of Royal Statistical Society, London in 2000 and was granted the status of Chartered Statistician of Royal Statistical Society, London, UK in 2003. He was the elected Secretary of Association of Sugarcane Technologists of India, c / o Indian Institute of Sugarcane Research, Lucknow in 2004 and an elected member of Executive Council of Indian Society of Agricultural Statistics, c / o IASRI, New Delhi in 2006. He was elected as one of the members of International Board of Consulting Editors of Sugar Tech- An International Journal of Sugar crops and Related Industries published by International Association of Professionals in Sugar and Integrated Technologies, China and Society for Sugar research and Promotion, India in 2007. he was elected as Editorial Secretary of Bhartia krishi Anusandhan Samiti, karnal in 2006. Dr. Rajesh Kumar has published more than 100 research papers in the field of Statistics, Agricultural research and Crop Planning. He shared the responsibility in organizing several National Seminars on Sugarcane Research. On many occasions, he was the member of monitoring team constitute for monitoring the trials of All India Coordinated Research Project on Sugarcane conducted at different location in India.
ABOUT THE AUTHOR Som Dutt
Dr Som Dutt started his professional career as a Research Scholar at the IARI, New Delhi, in 1982. Since Dr Som Dutt had keen interest in popular science writing, he joined Publications and Information Division (now Directorate of Knowledge Management in Agriculture, DKMA), at the ICAR Headquarters, New Delhi, in 1984. Dr Som Dutt is editing the Indian Journal of Agricultural Sciences, an international journal of the ICAR and the Indian Horticulture. He has vast experience in scientific writing and editing.
