The Significance of plantation crops, spices, aromatic and medicinal plants have been well known since time immemorial in India. The India is known as home of pieces, producing a variety of spices. Out of the recorded 109 spices, about 63 spices are cultivated in the country. In the recent past, the aromatic and medicinal plants has gained importance worldwide. Looking to the importance and utility of these crops the book entitles Production Technology of Plantation crops, Spices, Aromatic ad Medicinal Plants is being proposed which will be useful for the under-graduate students of Agriculture as well as Horticulture. Hopefully this effort shall benefit not only students of Agriculture/ Horticulture but those who are involved in the production and promotion of plantation crops, spices, aromatic and medicinal and promotion of plantation crops, spices, aromatic and medicinal plants. This book includes information regarding package of practices of plantation crops, spices aromatic and medicinal plants based on the personal experience, available research literature and reports from various seminars/conferences/workshops on these crops. The content of this books is classified in three sections plants. The first section deals with importance, classification and production technology of some of the important plantation crops like coconut, Areca nut, Cashew nut, Tea and Coffee. The second section included importance, classification and package o practices of spices viz; Blackpepper, Cardamon (small and Large), Garlic, Turmeric, Coriander Cumin, Methi, fennel, Asjwain (Dill). The third section includes importance, classification and cultivation of some of the important aromatic and medicinal plants viz; Opium Poppy, Safed Musali, Isabgol, Aswagandha, mehndi, Cheti Gulab and Mint.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR Abhay Dashora
Dr. Abhay Dashora is currently working as technical Assistant in AICRP on Groundnut, Department of Plant Breeding and Genetics, Rajasthan College of Agriculture, Maharana Pratap University of Agriculture and technology, Udaipur. He did his Ph.D. in 2000 in Plant Breeding and genetics from Rajasthan Agricultural university, Bikaner (Rajasthan). He was recipient of university Merit scholar-ship during M.Sc. and Ph.D. He was co-author in two books. He has contributed one chapter in the book “Breeding technology of crop Plantsâ€, one Extension Bulletin and three folders. He has published nine research papers in journals of national and international repute, presented five research papers in national symposium/seminars/conferences, published fifty popular articles for farmer’s benefits in Annadata programme, ETV Rajasthan. He is Co-Principal Investigator in Fenugreek Project Sponsored by Rajasthan State Seed Corporation Ltd., Government of Rajasthan, Jaipur. He has associated in the development of two groundnut varieties ‘Pratap Mungphali-1’ and “Pratap Mungphali-2†for the state of Rajasthan.
ABOUT THE AUTHOR L.K. Dashora
Dr. L.K. Dashora is presently working as Associate Professor & head, department of Horticulture, Rajasthan College of Agriculture, Maharana Pratap University of Agriculture and technology, Udaipur., he did his Ph.D. degree in Horticulture in the year 2000 from MPUAT, Udaipur (Rajasthan). He has been teaching various courses to Undergraduate and Postgraduate students from 1989 and guided eighteen M.Sc. and two Ph.D. students. He has written four books on fruits, spices, medicinal and aromatic plants and contributed chapters in many books. He is Co-Principal Investigator in three Projects sanctioned by ICAR, Spice Boards and RSSCL, GOR, Jaipur. He has published twenty four research papers. He was also Co-Course Director of two winter school of 21 days duration sponsored by ICAR.
ABOUT THE AUTHOR S.S. Lakhawat
Dr. S.S. Lakhawat is presently working as Assistant professor and Project Incharge, AICRP of Floriculture, department of Horticulture, rajasthan College of Agriculture, Maharana Pratap university of Agriculture and technology, Udaipur. He did his Ph.D. (Horticulture) in 2002 with specialization in Floriculture from Maharana Pratap university of Agriculture and technology, Udaipur. He has been recipient of university merit Scholarship during M.Sc. and Ph.D. he has been teaching various courses to undergraduate and postgraduate students. He has 4 years research experience in ICAR funded project on Heena and Kachari. He has published ten research papers in journals of national repute, 25 popular articles of farmer’s benefit in reputed magazines, presented papers in national seminars/symposium and contributed one book chapter.
