The book focuses on conventional and recent propagation techniques delving upon crop-wise depictions of different propagation methods in horticultural crops. ABOUT THE AUTHOR B.L. Markose
Dr. Baby Lissy Markose, Associate Professor of Horticulture has been in the teaching and research activities for more than two decades. She started her professional career as Agricultural Officer in the Department of Agriculture and later joined the K.A.U. as Assistant Professor Horticulture. She has had experience in Banana Research, Pineapple Research and Vegetable Seed Production Programme at varied length of time. She was involved in the development of seven vegetable varieties, which include pumpkin, chilli, okra and pineapple. She was the Principal Breeder of two corotene rich pumpkin varieties and one bacterial wilt resistant chilli variety. She has functioned as Major Advisor for research students and has published 30 research papers and three books. She is the recipient of Dr. Harbhajan Singh Award for the year 2001. She is presently working as Associate Professor in the Department of Olericulture, College of Horticulture, Kerala Agricultural University, Vellanikkara, Thrissur.
ABOUT THE AUTHOR S. Rajan
Dr. S. Rajan, a Horticulture Scientist with three decades of working experience in different branches of Horticulture. He started his career as Agricultural Officer in the department of Agriculture, Kerala in 1973 and then joined the K.A.U. as Assistant Professor of Horticulture during 1979. He became the Head of the Department of Olericulture at the College of Horticulture in 1992 and continued upto 2001. He was the Project Co-ordinator for vegetable and tuber crops in Kerala Agricultural University from 1992 to 1997. He was responsible for development and release of 16 vegetable varieties, which included three bacterial wilt resistant tomato varieties and three carotene rich pumpkin varieties. He has been teaching for undergraduate and post-graduate students for a period of over 20 years and guided post-graduate students for M.Sc. (Hort) and Ph.D. (Hort) degree as major advisor. He was associated with vegetable seed production programme of the Kerala Agricltural University over a decade and his contributions helped the University to evolve a scientific seed production network programme in the University. He has to his credit over 150 publications which include seven books. Tips in vegetable seed production, Grade standards in fresh vegetables and Crops varieties of KAU are acclaimed ones. The book 'Kaikarikal' in Malayalam came out in seven editions read widely among farming community in the state. He is recipient of Dr. Harbhajan Singh award for two times, 2000 and 2001. He is presently working as Officer on Special Duty (Seeds) and Associate Director of Research (M&E) at the Directorate of Research, Kerala Agricultural University.
