"The materials organised in the present publication attempt to focus on the key areas of women’s development—economic emancipation, enabling environment, legal framework, security of family and property, and the principle of equal apportunity. The articles and papers are drawn from a wide range of national and international sources, nonetheless with the sole objective of providing the student, researcher and social scientist a broad-spectrum picture of the siutation on the ground in terms of the factors enumerated. The focus is on development parameters that include and allow for the gender factor, at all levels of social and economic initiative, in order to bring women into the mainstream of development.
