The book examines the conceptual evolution of human rights thinking and their framework in the constitution of India. It also examines how the judiciary assumes a significant role in protecting the rights of the citizens in the contemporary human rights movement in the Indian state. Within this broader framework, the study focuses on the role of Public Interest Litigation.
ABOUT THE AUTHOR Arun Ray
Dr. Arun Ray graduated from Bhadrak College, Orissa. He received his M.A. Degree from the Utkal University and both M. Phil and Ph.D. (Political science) degree from the Jawaharlal Nehru University New Delhi. He was Previously Research Fellow at the National Human Rights Commission, New Delhi. He was a receipient of the Swedish International Development Agency Scholarship for his doctoral work. Presently, he teaches Women’s Studies at Utkal University, Orissa.
