Rayalaseema: During Colonial Times: A Study in Indian Nationalism

Based on solid research, this book is the first of its kind on Rayalaseema, a drought-prone region. Pointing out the topographical limitations, it gives reasons for the region’s economic backwardness. With this account as backdrop, the agrarian problems and setback to the local manufacturing enterprise under the colonial rule are dealt with. Then the book traces the spread of education and the press, though limited, which articulated the distraught lot of the region against the British colonial rule, leading to the growth of nationalist fervour.
