Re-Inventing HR in Coming Decades

The Institute for Technology and Management ITM Kharghar Navi Mumbai is a premier management institute accredited with A grade by the ITM Trust under the chairmanship of Prof P V Ramana.The institute organised a National HR Conference in December 2011 to provide a platform where professionals from both academia and industry and management students could deliberate discuss and develop some competitive and innovative HR strategies to create high performing business organisations.

The turbulence caused by the globalisation syndrome has led the corporate sector at almost all levels of management, to discover new ways of operating and surviving at the global level. In order to be successful in today’s business environment companies are trying hard to come out of the traditional mindset of the industrial economy and acclimatise themselves with the realities of knowledge and information economy. As organisations trends and demands change new ways of thinking and operating become essential. HR professionals contribution to add value in the new economy and emerging organisations is also important. They must play new roles and demonstrate broader competencies in the new economy.

The defining characteristics of the new economy are Liberalisation, Privatisation and Globalisation LPG. Though these characteristics have proved to be stepping stones in the growth of the new economy, they have also created a myriad of new expectations and challenges for the HR professionals in shaping any organisations’ human resource function. The 8th National HR Conference organised by the ITM Business School discussed and deliberated under the theme Re inventing HR in Coming Decades to develop some competitive and innovative HR strategies to create high performing business organisations. This book is a collection of papers presented by several professionals representing industry and academia and management students at the National HR Conference organised by the ITM Business School in December 2011.
