Readings in Criminology

The volume is on the status and scope of criminology in India. The papers by experts deal with crimes against women, terrorism, cyber crime and forensics, delinquency prevention, ageing and abuse of the elderly, child abuse, drug dependence and judicial activism in an effort to examine aspects relating to the perpetration of crimes and their prevention in a comprehensive manner. They emphasise the importance of restorative justice and social work, rethinking some teaching practices in criminology and the perspective of victims of crimes with reference to awareness of the law, reporting behaviour and so on. They highlight contemporary concerns relating to crime in the era of technological development, vigilance of police and law enforcement authorities, and the problems of vulnerable groups that are targeted.
