Biofertilizers also known as microbial inoculants have great potential as supplementary, renewable and environmental friendly source of plant nutrients and are an important component of Integrated Plant Nutrient System (IPNS). During the last decade the phenomenal increase in production and use of biofertilizers in India is the result of special attention given by the government and interest by entrepreneurs to set up biofertilizer production facilities. Farmers have also realised the benefits of the use of biofertilizers. For ensuring rapid growth of biofertilizers, constant research support is critical to obtain latest information on improvement of production technology, standardization of handling and storage norms and their use in diversified agro climatic conditions. This book provides comprehensive account of latest researches in the field of biofertilizers and related microbial strains along with the constraints by eminent scientists engaged in the research, planning, production technology, marketing and quality control of biofertilizers. The book is, therefore, expected to be useful for the persons engaged in these areas and also for planners and policy makers for agricultural and ecological development.
