The intelligent version of life has been in search of useful materials from the Treasures of Nature and the modern interdisciplinary studies in the field of matter and materials have led us to the systematic knowledge of their properties and application in various areas of engineering and applied sciences. In its earliest form material science existed by way of man’s random hunt for the discovery of materials and exploiting their properties. Today Material Science aims at creating new materials including Biomaterials and Nanomaterials with desired properties and behaviours. Material Science continues to guide our preference of materials in the light of their properties and this will surely make Material Science one of the most significant branches of learning in the years to come.
University Grants Commission, New Delhi, is the pioneering body which has taken various scientific steps for promotion of Research and Technology all over India. In the same light UGC sponsored the National Conference on "Recent Development in Material Science" held at Feroze Gandhi College, RaeBareli during 11-12 February, 2011. Nearly 100 papers were presented at the conference.
This volume contains technical papers in the areas namely Nano-material preparation and characteristics, catalysis, transition metals, polymers, composite materials, sensors, drugs designing and analysis, experimental techniques and devices, biological systems and environmental etc. This will serve as an indispensable reference volume for research workers and an excellent work in the field of material science.
