Relevance of Environment

The western view of development and modernity premised on matter, ensconces it emblematic faith in technology, centrality of instrumental reason, the imperishability of human freedom at the expense of what the Eastern mysticism holds as sacred and eternal. Al of these basics of western doctrine of progress with the advent of industrial revolution have been considered as sources of an environmental destructive dominant cultural tendency clamping on all the diverse cultural multilateralism. This dominant view of development resulting in a materialistic culture forms the foundation of the secular world view which has been a historically specific description about reduction of reality to matter, the triumph of human reason over the vagaries of nature and the usurpation of space and time by material progress, pandering to human senses and denial of the sacred. Said above does not mean adducing reasons for a return to a pre-modern world view or acquiescing in what the proponents of deconstructive post-modernism want reducing all world views to mere discourse. Bringing to the focus the neglected aspects of Eastern mysticism, western idealism and the recent revolutionary developments in the field of physics it traverses beyond what the western view and science hold as reality, and drawing upon the works of Hegel and the revelation of Eastern seers, and provides a new alternative metaphysics to secular world view. In consonance with the views of the modern scientists and Eastern philosophy it holds that spirit is the only reality. This book attempts at a cosmic whole approach challenging the established international relation theories based upon a Newtonian and Cartesian world view from an ecological perspective. The realist, liberal, critical and post-modern theories have been critically examined in their materialist premises with much of the inputs from the ecological insight, eastern philosophy and the new paradigm thinking in the field of science.
