The book presents a clear account of the Khasi religion. With the aim of clearing away misconceptions of the religion from the perspectives of non-Khasi writers, it critically examines the views presented by two prominent thinkers, P. R. Gurdon and H. O. Mawrie, on the Khasi religion which is an indigenous tribal religion of Meghalaya. It informs about the real essence and form of the Khasi religion by going into its distinctive features. It studies the impact of the Christian missionaries on Khasi religion and cultureand efforts by the Khasis to preserve their religion and culture through formation of indigenous associations such as the Ka Seng Khasi.
