This book is a compilation of 25 chapters by distinguished scientists in the field of reproductive biology and toxicology and introduces the subject to the postgraduate students and offers research oriented approach to reproductive biologists. Our aim is to put researchers and students engaged in different areas of research on common platform so as to be benefited by the current state of knowledge in the field of reproduction. In order to review the explosion of scientific knowledge and progress made during recent years, the contributions were intended to cover three relevant frontline areas i.e. molecular biology of reproduction, contraception and environment with special reference to reproduction. The special thrust areas included in the book are current understanding of the cellular mechanisms of contraceptive vaccines, contraceptive agents, hormone antagonists, steroid hormones mediated regulation, and genes for the reproductive hormones. Topics covered also included gap junctions and action in intercellular communication in molluscan endocrine cells and nature of adrenoceptors in ruminants. The book also highlights the therapeutic aspects of ruminants. The book also highlights the therapeutic aspects of the various environmental and occupational hazards due to toxicant exposure. It is hoped that this volume will satisfy the readers’ quest for knowledge.
