This book is a compilation of papers presented and deliberated upon at the National Seminar on "Role of Universities in Intellectual Property Education, Research and Public Outreach" organized by the Department of Economics, Gandhigram Rural Institute-Deemed University and sponsored by the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India, New Delhi. The papers throw light on issues in Intellectual Property Rights with a view to formulating IP centers for preserving the indigenous knowledge system and the traditional knowledge system in rural areas. The contributors to this volume represent a wide variety of fields: bureaucrats, administrators, academics, biotechnologists, international attorneys on IPR issues and Human Rights activists. So this book is expected to be of great use not only to advocates, but also to academicians, researchers, administrators, and policy makers in the endeavour to evolve action plans to preserve and safeguard nature. This book will also serve as a source book for imparting education in higher level institutions in the field of Intellectual Property Rights.
