Romantic Strain in Henry Derozio and Kalapi is a study on the influence of Romanticism and Romantic poetry on literature written in Indian languages. However, a comparative study of two poets from two different languages can serve to shed new light on the way the Romanticism influenced Indian literature. The book comprises a comparative study of Henry Derozio, the first Indian English poet and ‘Kalapi’, Sursinhji Takhtsinhji Gohil, a Gujarati poet with respect to the Romantic strain in their poetry. It explores how two poets penned their creative effusions under the influence of leading Romantic poets. The comparative study contains points of similarities and contrast in the way the influence was received by both the poets and reflected in their poetry.
