The present work is the outcome of a few selected papers presented in the national and international seminars or prepared for specific purposes during the last year by the author. These papers will certainly provide the basis to the young scholars and researchers as guidelines to document their research papers. Basically, papers relating to rural development its segments, tribal development, tribal females, rural women, rural employment, infrastructure, health and education, irrigation have been drafted in the context of a backward economy-Orissa, based on both primary and secondary sources of data. It is hoped that the work will be of immense benefit to the researchers, in the field of social science, the students of economics, political science and anthropology.
ABOUT THE AUTHOR Krishna Chandra Pradhan
Krishna Chandra Pradhan, a faculty in the Department of Economics, Khemundi College, Digapahandi of Odisha, had a distinguished academic career in the historic Khallikote College of Berhampur University, Berhampur. He obtained his M.A. and LL.B. degrees from that University, and was awarded Ph.D. by Pandit Ravishankar Shukla University, Raipur (C.G). for his work “Conditions of Female Children in Odisha: With Special Reference to Ganjam District”. He has participated and presented papers in many national and international conferences, and has published over six dozen research articles in different national and international journals. He has written over half a dozen books on different dimensions. His studies are mainly interdisciplinary in nature which encompass gender, social exclusion, rural development, labour, etc. Dr. Pradhan is intimately associated with many educational, research and professional bodies.
