The present volume, brought out, in the memory of Prof. Lakshman Sarup, Former University Professor of Sanskrit and Principal, Oriental College, Punjab University, Lahore, is designed as a tribute both to the great savant in whose memory it is published and to the field of Indological studies. It contains fifty research articles on various aspects of Orientology by renowned scholars in their respective fields. Keeping in view the varied nature of the papers, the volume is divided into eight sections, viz. Vedic Studies, Grammer and Etymology, Epics and Puranas, Religion and Philosophy, Classical Sanskrit, Epigraphy and Numismatics, History, Culture and Archaeology and Fine Arts besides section O containing articles on the life and work of Dr. Sarup. As far as possible, the articles are arranged in the chronological order. This brings almost every aspect of this vast subject into its fold, presented in a scientific order. It is hoped that the volume will serve a useful purpose to the scholars and students of Indology, bedised being a humble tribute to the great Orientalist.
