School Psychology: Counselling Perspectives

This book is an initiative supported by the Puducherry Co-operative Book Society and is a collection of 26 papers that were presented at the 2nd National Conference of the Indian School Psychology Association helpd at Calicut University, Kerala, that promotes different perspectives of School Psychology in India. This collection is aimed at helping psychologists, social workers, policy makers and teachers to understand most of the vital aspects related to School psychology and the educative nature of counselling perspectives in the teaching learning process. School psychologists are becoming a common practice despite the context surrounding their work still contains a stigma in consulting a psychologist. The schedule of a school psychologist is exhaustive, with work over load and complexity of issues to be handled. A range of studies were conducted from students and parents of diverse backgrounds to nail down the issues, while myths and realities of school counseling were explored and the qualifications of psychologists investigated across a broad canvas of practicing professionals.
