Science and Technology Diplomacy in Developing Countries

This compendium of 19 papers, presented at an international conference, organized by the Centre for Science and Technology of the Non-Aligned and Other Developing Countries, New Delhi, attempts at understanding the connect between science and diplomacy. Taking a close look at the global initiatives for science and technology diplomacy in the 21st century, it describes Malaysian experience of science and technology diplomacy enhanced by University Alumni Global Networking.

Evaluating the rationale of science and technology diplomacy, it examines the role science diplomacy in addressing contemporary global issues and developing international partnerships, especially in Indian context. It also deals with the contribution of international cooperation in supporting science and technology development in Indonesia, Jordan’s diplomatic efforts to enhance S&T collaborations, science and technology partnerships in Kenya, the opportunities and challenges of science and technology diplomacy, the South-South and triangular cooperation, and the mutual reinforcing relationship between science and foreign policy.
