This work brings out multi-dimensional contribution of Indian scholars of the past to the world of Sanskrit, since Vedic age. "Dr. D.N. Shanbhag felicitation volume" under the title "Science, History, Philosophy and Literature in Sanskrit Classics" consists of twenty-nine research papers in toto, which are classified under four groups as above. These papers verity take the readers to the significant spheres of Sanskrit literature wherein scientific, historical, philosophical and literary aspects have been brought to light. In precise, elements of environmental production, sciences of Botany, Ayurvea and Mathematics are expressed in the first party of this volume. The second part pertaining to history, deals with transformation of economic thought between Rgveda and Ramayana, principles of management during the period of Srauta sutras, Kautiliyan concept of ideal village, fortification during later Chalukyan period, etc. The philosophical aspect on the methods of interpreting the old Sanskrit works, Anekantavada, upanisadic concept of Bhakti, and so on, have been delineated in the penultimate section. The fourth section speaks of literary aspects dealt with in the paninian Grammar, Kalidasa’s works, Sahitya-sara, an unidentified old work, etc. In fine, the present volume encompasses multi-farious gamut of Sanskrit literature.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR K.B. Archak
Dr. K.B. Archak, Reader in Sanskrit, Karnataka University, Dharwad is a devoted scholar in the field of Vedanta and classical literature. He has necessary background of traditional studies. He is recipient of the Karnataka State Award, The Chancellor Jayachamaraja Wodeyar Award for having secured I class I rank at M.A. examination during 1977 at state level. He completed Ph.D. degree in 1984. Besides, he possesses the degrees-M.A. (Hindi), Vedanta-Dharmashastra-Acharya, Alankara-Vidwan. He has more than twenty years experience in teaching and research. He is associated with several academic bodies of national and international repute. He has participated in various conferences/seminars/workshops, and delivered special lectures in different Universities. He wields his pen in English, Sanskrit, Hindi and Kannada with equal felicity. He has to his credit several research papers published in various leading journals of India. He has already published eleven works on Vedanta, Dharmashastra and literature. Dr. Michael, a devolted scholar in the field of Indian Philosophy and Sanskrit literature, has been serving the Gulbarga University, Gulbarga (Karnataka) for the last 21 years. He is, at present, the Chairman of the Department of Sanskrit. Dr. Michael was awarded the PhD Degree by the Gulbarga University for his doctoral thesis on Some Philosophical Concepts in the Bhagavadgita and the New Testament-A Comparative Study. He wields his pen with equal felicity in Kannada, English and Sanskrit. He has published more than fifteen research papers in scholarly journals. He has participated in as many as twenty nationaland international seminars. On invitation, he has delivered scholastic lectures at Dharwas, Mysore, Dharmasthala, madras, etc. Also, Dr. Michael is a research guide for many research students working for PhD.
