This is the first comprehensive reference & textbook on seed health. The present book is a comprehensive account of all relevant information on seed health in the form of a text as well as reference book. The text of the terminology, historical developments of seed testing and seed health testing, objectives of seed health testing etc. Part second provides a comprehensive account of information on the techniques used for the detection of seed born fungi, bacteria, viruses, various and nematode. The techniques hereby dealts include conventional methods such as examination of dry seeds, seed soak and washing test, culture tests, infectivity test, seedling symptom test, histopathology and molecular techniques such as immunoassays and nucleic acid base techniques. The procedures such as non-destructive seed assays, estimation of fungal image analysis not used on routine basis have also been discussed. In addition, a chapter on methods for the estimation of fungicides on treated seeds is also being discussed.
ABOUT THE AUTHOR V.K. Agarwal
Dr. V.K. Agarwal (b. 1948) had a brilliant academic career. He did M.Com. from the University of Agra and also M.A. Economics securing First Division in both. He also holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Law and also ADIM. He obtained the degrees of Doctor of Philosophy and also Doctor of Letters from the University of Agra. Career Award winner of the U.G.C., New Delhi, he is on the expert panel of the ICSSR, New Delhi. He is a member of Board of Studies and also of Research Degree Committee of the Agra University. He is a member of the Faculty of Commerce, Kanpur University. He has contributed more than 55 papers which were published in reputed journals. He has worked on three U.G.C. projects. As a research supervisor he has guided a number of scholars for doctoral degree. Dr. Agarwal is presently working as Head, Department of Research and P.G. Studies in Business Administration (Caculty of Commerce), P.C. Bagla (P.G.) College, Hathras affiliated to the University of Agra. His interests, are teaching as well as research which include Business and Industrial Management, Management of Public Enterprises, Tax Planning and Management, Financial Management and Marketing Management.
