Sericulture is an effective tool to eradicate poverty and unemployment in vulnerable groups. Silk production in India in the recent past has exhibited tremendous growth both horizontal and vertical through systematic and planned approaches and emerged as the second largest producer of silk in the world. New technologies accelerate the production process only if they are effectively disseminated in the field. The challenge under the Indian conditions has been more about the dissemination and rate of adoption of new sericulture technologies by the sericulture farmers. Extension efforts are directed towards farmer’s problems and provide solutions by utilizing the limited resources.
In this backdrop this textbook is written with the objective to explain the applications of practices policies and principles of extension which relates to various strategies for wide adoptability of new technologies innovations methods in improving the production and productivity of sericulture farmers.
