The present book is devoted to the study of one of the fore- most Indian women novelists-Ka Mala Markandaya. The book under-lines how sax and violence become narrative strategy, as an integral part of the overall technique of Markandaya’s fiction. As a women writer, she is able to explore the psyche of female characters in tensely, especially when they undergo emotional turbulence suffering sexual violence. The study makes a bold and innovative approach, and contributes significantly to the fast-growing corpus of women’s studies.
