Shakespeare Criticism: An Essay in Synthesis

Born in 1901 in Cochin State (now a part of kerala) Mr. Narayana Menon passed the B.A. (Hons). Examination from the Madras University in First class, breaking the Madras Christian College recordk and winning the University Medal. In 1929 he earned the Ph. D. from the Madras University doing the thesisk entitled ”Shakespeare Tragedy through Indian Eyes”. Shakespeare Criticism is a revised version of his thesis thesis which brought Dr. Menon the D. Litt. Degree of the same university. Dr. Menon served for five years in Ceylon as Vice-Principal and Professor of English in Victoria College. In 1931 he joined the Banaras of Hindu University as Professor of English, where he continued till his retirement in 1961. Dr. Menon leads an active life in Banaras and continues to evince a keen interest in contemporary affairs.
