This book is the result of the Author’s various lectures which were delivered at the London School of Economics. The main object was to provide a suitable textbook for the student. The Author has tried to explain the leading principles in a way which would be interesting and intelligible to beginners. He firmly agrees with the scholars who have made Platos ‘Republic’ as general basis of study. The Author has tried to evaluate good number of problems which confront us occasionally. The chief aim has been to stimulate thought and suggest the lines of study, rather than to supply information or to seek to impose his own opinions upon the reader.
