Society in Early Historic Tamilakam

"Society in Early Historical Tamilakam (1st Century B.C. to 6th Century A.D.)" is the product of a Ph.D. thesis submitted to the Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi in 1993, under the guidance of noted historian Dr R. Champaka-lakshmi. It studies how early Tamil society transited from a tribal to peasant/urban one. In the course of this study, it also looks at the early Tamil ecology, polity, society and religious beliefs.
