It is a case study of Muslims of Gujarat State and their socio-economic profile and is a sample based research endeavour. This report provides enormous information on varied aspects of the Muslims in Gujarat State based on authentic records. Gujarat is a separate state of India dawn on the map on 1st May 1960. Many socio-economic changes have taken place since then. The varying general conditions affect the various ethnic – religious communities in quit heterogeneous manner. This gives rises to community specific socio-economic profile of the communities. Muslims in Gujarat have a significant say in the aggregate scenario of the state in all walks of life. As citizens of India, they should be given equal rights and opportunities to realise their potentials. But their specific socio-economic profile warrant a distinct policy package in public vis-a-vis intra-community policy tannest and program’s. For this purpose, hard facts are must.Data is a base for realistic and effective welfare measures of any community. It is very obvious that data on Muslims are quit scarce. Hence on important parameters the data should be generated. With this particular aim in view, this project was sponsored by the Institute of Objective Studies, New Delhi. The project is a sample based research endeavor, covering the whole state. Meanwhile a similar project was launched for Delhi.
