The contribution of women to the national economy is generally undervalued in the underdeveloped and developing countries across the world. It is due to their low socio-economic status and meagre opportunities of livelihood avenues.

This book attempts to examine the various factors contributing to the socio-economic status and livelihood security of women in two similar situations of India and Sri Lanka. It studies entrepreneurial behaviour of women and their involvement in various activities for women empowerment. Also, it analyses the livelihood security of women and the problems faced by them in their socio-economic upliftment.
